About Us Big Wave Kayak and Outdoor is owned by Trent and Bonnie Pontalti. Trent has been a resident of Kelowna since 1968, he loves the Okanagan and has a deep appreciation for creation! Having learned to swim, sail, and kayak on Okanagan Lake it is his pleasure to share the beauty of the Valley and his love of the water with all who come to visit or to stay. Trent is currently a local high school technology and outdoor education teacher, he lives with his wife Bonnie and their three children in Kelowna. In addition to Sea Kayak instruction and leadership Trent has worked in various outdoor leadership capacities since 1987. He has mountain guided, instructed rock climbing, and taught outdoor leadership courses . Trent is a certified Level 2 sea kayak instructor with Paddle Canada and holds a level three sea kayaking skill certification. Trent holds current first aid certification and is in the process of completing Red Cross first aid instructors certification. Trent is a founding member of the 360 Three Sea Kayak Instructors Group. One of Trent's favorite sea kayaking experiences was paddling next to a few humpback whales while paddling off the coast of Newfoundland.
